Hello everyone, we just wanted to let everyone know that Kathy and I are just fine, we are still on the north island, headed to New Plymouth tomorrow. They are saying that 65 people are dead, and maybe 200 are still trapped, but we are far from all of that. We may choose to volunteer in the clean up effort in a couple of weeks when the rescue services have saved those who they can save. Hope all is well in the USA, they are saying this is one of NZ's "darkest days"
Thanks for letting us know, DJ! I just saw the headlines. I hope you're having a good trip and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you're alright. Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteI was teaching my geology class tonight and a student raised his hand to ask about the New Zealand earthquake. What? I hadn't heard! - spent the last two days lazing around with an awful cold. So I quickly checked the blog and was sooo glad you are both ok!!! I hope you get to help with the clean-up efforts. I think that would be a really meaningful experience.
