De-furing a possum

Paul shot a possum out front, as they are a huge pest here in NZ (these are an Australian possum, not the same as the USA opossum). Then he got DJ to defur it. The fur from just one possum is worth about $5, and only takes about 2 min to collect, so it's worth it. The fur is mixed with sheep wool and is VERY soft when made into shirts, coats, etc.

You've got to pull it out when it's fresh, otherwise the fur is hard to pull.

  1. cool. I have never de-furred an animal. DJ makes it look easy.

Are you bringing home anything made of the sheep wool/possum fur mixture?

  2. He looks pretty cute compared to the US opossum. Can you bring 2 home to destroy our eco-system and populate us with soft furry cute animals?

  3. Aaah... I see where the stuff came from (that'll teach me to read from back to front!)

But really... did you eat him? It would be so good not to waste it.

Oh, and I was wondering if the fur/skin has to be whole to sell, or if it is torn or in pieces is that ok? It'd be funny to wear an opossum sweater...
