Seal pup waterfall

So there is this waterfall about 15min north of Kaikoura that is a winter playground for hundreds of NZ fur seal pups. No one is quite sure why they picked this spot, or why they congregate, but some scientists think it is because they want to "socialize". And this waterfall is far enough inland in the forest that it is difficult for the adult seals to get to. So basically the kids all run away for the winter and play in the waterfall :) VERY STRANGE to see a bunch of mini seals crawling around in the woods!

  1. Did you get to play with them at all? Are they cheeky or timid?
